The Hanging Gardens

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were built by the magnificent King Nebuchadnezzar, so that his lovely queen would have a private, terraced garden to enjoy. They gardens are about 400 feet wide, 400 feet long, and over 80 feet high! There are paths, steps, fountains, and lots of beautiful flowers and plants located in the gardens. The Hanging Gardens was built around 600 BC along the bank of the Euphrates River. Once you step into the magnificent gardens, you will never want to leave! Everyone who has seen or entered the Hanging Gardens has been blown away by how beautiful they are.
Ishtar Gate and the Walls of Babylon

The Ishtar Gate was created on the north side of Babylon in about 575 BC. The gate was dedicated to the Babylonian goddess Ishtar. It was constructed using glazed bricks and the roof and doors of the gate are made of cedar. The walls are covered with painted lions. Statues of gods and goddesses are placed throughout the gate each year during New Year's celebration.
King Ashurnasirpal II of Assyria Palace
King Ashurnasirpal II palace was created in about 875 BC. His palace was created in Nimrud, which is the capitol of Assyria. The loyal King Ashurnasirpal II palace was made of mud-brick and baked brick walls. These walls are covered with large stone carvings. King Ashurnasirpal II is the king of Assyria and his palace is located in Nimrud. You not only can visit the palace, but you can have dinner with the magnificent King Ashurnasirpal II.
The Royal Tombs of Ur

The Royal Tombs of Ur are sixteen tombs located close to the palace of Ur. Some of the bodies in the sixteen tombs include past kings, queens, princesses, princes, and servants and slaves. Servants and slaves are in the royal tombs to accompany them and serve them in their afterlife. In these tombs there are alot of precious items and they include gold ribbon headdresses, gold vessels, bead pendants, lapis lazuli necklaces, wooden lyres, precious jewels, decorated royal sleds, and much more. Gold robbers have tried to steal things from the tombs, but so far no one has touched Queen Pu-Abi's tomb. Her body is covered with precious metal beads, rings, and a floral crown with metal and golden leaves on her head.
Ziggurats

Ziggurats are amazing temples built by the people of their town. The people of Mesopotamia believe that the gods live in the sky and if they built these tall temples with stairs climbing to the top they were closer to the gods. Formal religious ceremonies are held at the top of the Ziggurats. Throughout the year people leave offerings of food and wine on the steps of the ziggurats, so the gods have something to eat. A Ziggurat is built in the center of every town because it's the center of people's daily life. The Ziggurat courtyard is always filled with happiness and busy life.
